Herb Garden - June 2

June 2, 2008

Ah, Summer is here!  We have now been in our new home for a little over a year and are beginning to progress again.  We spent this past year just trying to get into some kind of working order.  The barn is almost finished, the garden plans are established, the animals are beginning to be productive again.  Life is in full swing.  There is still much to do and many thoughts are hatching.  We are very much preparing for a permaculture setting here and looking toward the different aspects and how to get them in place.  A pond is in the near future and a potable drinking water storage system is as well.  Thanks for all the prayers and we ask that you continue to lift our family to the Lord when He brings us to your thoughts.  Prayer is vital!  May the Lord bless your efforts to move into a more God focused plan for your life.

Be diligent to know the state of thy flocks, and look well to thy herds.
Proverbs 27: 23

New items from our Farm and Garden this week:

There seem to be but three ways for a nation to acquire wealth.  The first is by war, as the Romans did, in plundering their neighbors.  This is robbery.  The second by commerce, which is generally cheating.  The third is by agriculture, the only honest way, wherein man receives a real increase of the seed thrown into the ground, in a kind of continual miracle, wrought by the hand of God in his favor, as reward for his innocent life and his virtuous industry.  ~ Benjamin Franklin

This section of our Burrell Family websites is going to be devoted to our efforts of raising livestock and gardening.  We feel the Lord has made it clear that we are to be responsible to provide food for our family.
